New state-of-the-art devices expand the research capacities of the Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Facility. The equipment was purchased as part of the funding for the Campus Krems Core Facility and will be available for research from April 2024.
The two new devices are a CytoFlex S flow cytometer and a CytoFLex SRT cell sorter. The CytoFlex S flow cytometer is designed to analyse complex cell suspensions with high throughput. The cells are hydrodynamically focussed and pass individually through a laser beam. Some highlights include the addition of a plate loader module, which allows sampling directly from a 96-well plate, as well as the specifically curated combination of 3 lasers and 13 filters, which makes the device compatible with almost all commonly used fluorescent dyes.
Details:
- 408nm (violet): 405/10, 450/45, 525/40, 610/20, 660/10, 780/60
- 488nm (blue): 488/8, 525/40, 690/50
- 561 (yellow): 561/10, 610/20, 585/42, 690/50, 780/60
- 660nm (red): 660/10, 712/25, 780/60
- Sample from tubes or 96 well-plates
The CytoFLex SRT is designed for high throughput. Some highlights include the ability to sort directly into any kind of culture plate (up to 384 well-plates), as well as the simultaneous sorting of up to 4 sub-populations and the combination of 3 lasers and 18 filters, which makes the device compatible with almost all commonly used fluorescent dyes.
Details:
- 405nm (violet): 405/10, 450/45, 525/40, 610/20, 660/10, 780/60
- 488nm (blue): 488/8, 525/40, 690/50
- 561nm (yellow): 561/6, 610/20, 780/60, 585/42, 710/50, 675/30
- 660nm (red): 660/10, 712/25, 780/60
- Sort up to 4 populations into tubes or plates
There is a high demand for flow cytometry at Campus Krems and a device of this type enables a high throughput of samples and efficient advancement of our research.
